San Cristóbal Airport is on the western end of San Cristóbal Island and is very small. We took an afternoon flight out of Atlanta and landed in Quito late in the evening on Friday night, December 13. The landing was at the brand spanking new Quito Airport, which only opened last February and is nearly 20 kilometers outside of Quito. My sister & I had pushed our parents to select a trip to somewhere overseas; we originally lobbed for the South Pacific, but they countered with the Galápagos. I was traveling. First I was in Atlanta for one night, where my family rendezvoused to see The Hobbit before we flew to Ecuador. After two nights in Quito, we flew to the Galápagos for a full seven nights on the M/Y Letty. The trip started and ended on San Cristobal Island.
